
Rismedia, 03/11/10 The 30-year fixed mortgage rate on Zillow Mortgage Marketplace is currently 4.76%, down four basis points from 4.80% compared to this same time last week. The 30-year fixed mortgage rate fluctuated between 4.76 and 4.82 during the past week.
Zillow’s real-time mortgage rates are based on thousands of custom mortgage quotes submitted daily to anonymous borrowers through the site, and reflect the most recent changes in the market. These are not marketing rates, or a weekly survey.
The rate for 15-year fixed home loans is currently 4.24%, while the rate for 5-1 adjustable-rate mortgages (ARM) is 3.47%.
The total volume of mortgage requests in the past week was down 5% from the prior week. Of last week’s requests, 32% were for refinance loans, 66% were for purchase loans and 2% were for home equity loans. The prior week, 32.2% of requests were for refinance loans, 65.8% were for purchase loans and 2% were for home equity loans
Zillow says people are looking up 2 million homes a month on its free app. “We were blown away by how much usage it gets,” (Wall Street Journal 10/03/10)
